Position overview:

Reporting to the Partner and DB Consulting Leader, Ontario Retirement Solutions, the Senior Consultant provides defined benefit pension plan consulting services to clients

 

As part of this organization, this position will be responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing support of defined benefit pension plans.  The Senior Consultant will support the Partner with new and existing mandates acting as subject matter expert in the areas of defined contribution pension plans including; plan design, recordkeeping, governance, investment structure, performance monitoring, vendor selection and member communication.  The successful candidate will have experience with one or more areas of defined contribution pension plans (plan design, recordkeeping, governance, investment structure, performance monitoring, vendor selection and member communication) with an interest in gaining exposure to other areas.

 

Responsibilities include:

Functions as a subject matter expert for DB pension plans

Manages multiple prospect and client assignments and projects and therefore will have a billable hours target

Work with subject matter experts to develop tools and processes for various aspects of DB Consulting

Support revenue targets through client presentations and proposals

Conduct market research on various defined benefit pension plan topics

Develops draft reports for clients and collateral for prospects

Builds and maintains excellent relationships with clients through client meetings, office visits and social functions

Assists with the development of creative solutions to improve efficiencies and develop best practices within the practice area

Recognizes client issues and suggests proactive and creative solutions

Keeps apprised of changes and updates to applicable defined contribution pension legislation at both the provincial and federal level

Maintains an awareness of current news and best practices; shares such with clients and team members

Ensures that quality control and service standards are followed

Assists the Partner of the DB Consulting Practice with other tasks and participates on special projects as required

Requirements:

5-10 years of Defined Benefit Pension experience

FSA or other relevant designation would be an asset Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen

Excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills Strong leadership and team building skills

Highly organized, ability to take initiative and be independent

A good understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
